Mr M. V. Sandlant has been gazetted a 2nd Lieutenant in the Hauraki Regiment.

The Rev. A. A. Bensley left yesterday, to attend the South Auckland District Synod, which is being held in St. Paul's Methodist Church, Hamilton.

Miss J. Dyer, a member of the office staff of the Tauranga County Council, who is leaving shortly for Dunedin, was met by members of the council at the conclusion of the monthly meeting on Friday last, when they took the opportunity to convey to her their appreciation of her services. In making a presentation to Miss Dyer, the chairman, Cr. C. Hume, said that the council was well pleased with her work. The council regretted that she was leaving but desired to wish her every success in the future. Miss Dyer suitably replied.
