Convoy Dealt With

Heading For New Guinea

London, March 31

In the Northern Pacific United States heavy bombers have pounded the Japanese base on the island of Kiska in the Aleutians. Flying Fortresses have made further attacks on Vila and Shortland Island in the Solomons. A lone Flying Fortress has effectively dealt with, a south-bound enemy convoy making for Finschafen in New Guinea. The convoy consisted of four enemy destroyers steaming south at high speed. The United States bomber attacked and scored a direct hit on the stern of a large destroyer. The convoy then turned and retired northward at high speed.
