CLOTHES COUPONS

NO SALE CONCESSIONS (P.A.) Wellington, Jan. 2-5. "Many inquiries have been received in connection with holding sales to clear the season's fashion goods," said the Food and Rationing Controller, Mr J. E. Thomas to-day. "It has been decided that no reduction in coupon values will be permitted for sales during 1943." Mr Thomas announced that the currency of coupon X 7 for the purchase of hosiery will definitely expire on January 31. For the period February 1 to July 31, coupon XI3 is authorised for the purchase of fully fashioned stockings of silk, artificial silk, or mixtures thereof. No trader may supply stockings of the specified type during this period except on surrender of the one coupon, Xl3, for each pair. All other stockings may continue to be purchased with M and O coupons, in accordance with the general coupon schedule.
