TRANSPORT OF GOODS
TAURANGA TO ROTORUA LIMITED SERVICE URGED The need for maintaining a road service for the transportation of goods from Tauranga to Rotorua was stressed by members of the Rotorua Borough Council at its meeting recentily. The"transportation of goods from centres such as Auckland Wellington by rail sometimes necessited long delays, which was often detrimental to perishable goods. Mr R. A. Potter said there should be some road service between Tauranga and Rotorua. It was absolutely essential that perishable goods should reach their destination as soon as possible.
Mr E. T. Johnson pointed out that pleasure trips were still being run in the Rotorua district, and when it was a question of the carrying of foodstuffs some consideration should be given. It was decided to make further representations for road services to have a limited service between Rotorua and Tauranga.
