FIGHTING IN RUSSIA SOVIET ADVANCE ON SMOLENSK SUCCESSES AGAINST FINNS London. April 20. A Moscow message announces no important changes on the Russian front. Successes are claimed against the Finns and on the Smolensk front.

A considerable amount of war material has been captured on the Karelian Isthmus. Included in these are supplies of food looted from the Russian peasants.

On the Smolensk front 1200 Germans have been killed and Russian artillery has done much damage to enemy fortified positions.

The German High Command admits a Russian break through on this front.
