Q. —I run an 8 h.p. Morris and the makers give the valve clearance at O.OlOin. If this clearance were set to 0.009 what effect would it have on the performance of the engine? Would it give me increased "E.J.M."
power?—'
A.-. —The engine is so designed that it is necessary for a tappet clearance of 0.019 in. to be allowed, to obtain the most satisfactory results. You would be well recommended to adhere to the approved clearances.' Q. —I am troubled with piston pin knocking. Is the remedy to have
A.—The pin trouble will not be remedied by installing new pistons alone. You must also have new pins and new rings. Also have the cylinders carefully checked for wear. If out of round or tapered, they need a rebore.
