NEWS IN TOWN
The Home Guard. A really live group of guardsmen has been formed at Te Puna. Zealous and keen in their work a lot of useful ground has already been covered by this platoon, under the able leadership of Mr R. Munro. Military drill and exercises also physical drill are some of- the activities. These guardsmen, 26 strong at present, are anxiously awaiting the issue of rifles. Yacht Club Picnic. The Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club will hold its annual picnic at Omokoroa next week-end. The Idle Along class race from the leading beacon to Omokoroa for the Galatea Cup will start at 9.30, and during the day there will be races for seven-footers and also an Idle Along class race for women skippers.
Small Rainfall. ■" r :'9t . The weather has been blustery over the past two days with a south westerly wind. The temperature is decidedly lower, and a small rainfall of .02 inches fell during the past twenty-four hOurs.
