DEATH OF CHIEF SCOUT
LORD BADEN-POWELL A United Press Association cablegram from Nairobi says the death has occurred of the Chief Scout, Lord Baden-Powell. Lord Baden-Powell’s funeral will take place on Thursday at 3.30 p.m. He is being buried, as he wished, in a wild corner of his home at Nyeri, in Kenya. The Imperial Scout Headquarters in London announced that scouts throughout the world -would attend synchronised remembrance services on Sunday, January 12, or January 19. Lord Baden-Powell died at Nyeri. His last message to the Boy Scout headquarters in London was Christmas card received last weea. The illusrations on the card, wluch was lettered and drawn by him. included one of Hitler, to whom.“We owe a statue. He has done moie than any other man ever did to consolidate our nation at home and overseas.”
The card told the scouts to Stick it out and play up to the scouts’ slogan of < SI66V6s up, tails up, and. t,o go it to win the war.” Lord Baden-Powell suffered from recurrent heart attacks. _ having seven in eight weeks, but his condition was reported to have improved at the end of November.
