• - CHINESE ISLAND GIVEN UP London, Nov. 4. A message from New York says a Domei broadcast states that the Japanese have abandoned Waichow Island, off the Kwangtung Province coast, which was used as a naval base. It is apparently part of the general withdrawal from Kwangsi, and it is added that other towns between Nanning and Yamehow are being given up.'
