NEWS IN TOWN
Gay Fawkes. Guy Pawkes had a very poor remembrance last night. Now and again a rocket would give a reminder that there were some crackers about, and there were one or two bonfires, but even the children seemed to pass the occasion by with little interest. Oppressive Weather. After a very warm afternoon light showers fell last evening, the fall to 9 o’clock this morning being .08 inches. To-day is dull and overcast. Borough Meeting. In view of the importance of the subject, it is a matter for regret that the only intimation of the special meeting of the Borough Council being held yesterday afternoon was a casual word overhead in this office five minutes before the meeting was heid.
