PRICE OF LAND COUNCIL NOT GOING OX WITH PROPOSAL A letter, dated the 18th inst., from I Mr A. S. Newland, District Manager of the Public Trust Office, was read at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council advising that replies had been received from beneficiaries interested in the Estate of the late Mrs K. Brain and they directed that the reserve on the estate property, known as Lot 14 of Block 29, Church Mission Reserve, containing 2 acres 1 rood 10 perches, be fixed at £ISOO. The Public Trustee was agreeable to the Council having an option over the property at that figure for three weeks from the date of the letter. The land is located at the corner of DevOiiport Road and Morris Street. Cr Every said the Council had decided not to purchase an adjoining area and moved—That the writer be thanked for the letter and advised that the Council was not going on with the proposal.—Seconded bv Cr Dailies and carried.
