DEFENCE POLICY
STATEMENT BY MINISTER. "The new defence policy of the Government,” stated the Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, on Wednesday, “involves a considerable increase in the Dominion’s expenditure upon defence. In order that the expenditure may not press too heavily upon the taxpayer, the implementing of these measures is bemmd over a definite period. New Zealand’s expenditure per population on defence,” said the Minister, ‘‘has for some years been the lowest in the Empire.”
