MISS T. KENCH AT LOS ANGELES

Form far from her best was shown by Miss T. Kench, of Wellington, New Zealand’s champion lady sprinter and record holder, at the Olympic Games at Los Angeles. While away Miss Kench put on weight, and she said on her arrival yesterday that on the day of the ladies’ 100 metres She felt listless. Miss Kench had a splendid opportunity of studying the methods of the world’s leading lady athletes, and doubtless she will ,have some valuable advice to give/ to local competitors. She found that her style of running was not suited to the cinder tracks. The American girls ran more upright and did not lean forward ajs she had been accustomed to doing on the grass tracks In New metres in record time, ran like a Zealand. The Polish girl, Miss Stella Walsh, who won the ladies’ 100 man. The American girls were specialists, and they were surprised, she said, to learn that in New Zealand the girl athletes went to work and did their training after work.
