COMING SALVATION ARMY COUNCIL
CHIEF’S WHEREABOUTS A MYSTERY
MAY ATTEND COUNCIL MEETING.
London, Jan. 7
Mystery continues to surx-ound the whereabouts of General Bramwcll Booth, head of the ■Salvation Army, though he appeal’s to have left his home at Southwold. Suffolk.
The headquarters of the organisation officially announce that there is no likelihood of the general resigning before the meeting of the High Council tomorrow. He does not admit the charge that he is not fit to carry on the duties of head of the army-
it is not probable that General Booth will attend the meeting of the council, hut he is a man of iron will, and it is just possible that he will make an effort to do so-
In well-informed circles the opinion is expressed that if the council decides that he is not fit to carry on his most likely successor is Commissioner E. 7Higgins, or Mr David Lamb, Director of Migration, A prominent official said a week ago he thought Miss Eva Booth would sweep the hoard. Since thou opinion has changed, and there has been a hardening feeling in favour of a British candidate.
