The census throughout New Zealand will be taken to-night. Householders or other persons in charge of dwelling s must furnish schedules in accordance whh the Census and Statistics Ach giving particular of every person who passes to night (Tuesday) within their dwelling, or who arrives there to-morrow morning without having been enumerated elsewhere, The census paper is comprehensive and a large number of questions have to be answered.

Large numbers of cattle have passed through Opotiki during the past two or three months en route from Poverty Biy to the Waikato. In many cases motorists have encountered herds of considerable sizi on the Op .tikiMotu road, and difficulty has been experienced in passing them.

A meeting of suppliers ot the Katikali Dairy Company was held on Saturday last, when a resolution was passed affirming the principle of the ward system of representation on the Dairy Produce Central Board, and the individual vote of the farmers to be retained. Mr A. 11. P. Briatco, returning officer, inserts a notice to-day relative to the election of two members to the Tauranga Harbour Board for the combined dts trict of Makelu and Te Puke Ridings and the Town District of Te Puke. The Cadet Football Club held their annual meeting last week, a very satisfactory position being disclosed. The club will place one senior, one junior, and one third grade team on the field this season, and Tuesdays and Thursdays sees the teams practising hard.
