MOTOR LORRIES
OWNERS TO FURNISH
RETURNS
At the last meeting of the Tauranga County Council the following communication was read from Mr F. W- Furkert, Engineer-in-Chief and Under-Secretary of the Public Works Department: - Your attention is drawn to the requirements of Regulation 16 of the Motor Lorry Regulations published in Gazette No. 20 of March 26, 1925, which requires the owner of every motor lorry to cause to be entered up daily, and to furnish to the licensing : uthority at such intervals as the licensing authority shall think fit, particulars as to the use of any motor lorry, including approximate distances traversed and the name of the controlling authorities injthe area or areas in which such lorry operates; such particulars require to be furnished generally in accordance with Foim D in the schedule to the regulations. I should be glad if you would kindly advise whether your Council is receiving these reUirns regularly. Please note that after April I, 1926, local authorities will be expected to allocate the proceeds of heavy traffic license fees on the user basis.” Cr. Mundt moved —That the matter be referred to the county clerk lor action.
The motion was seconded by Cr. Merriman and carried unanimously. A similar communication was read at Thursday’s meeting ol the Borough Council and was referred to the inspector.
