DOPE IN N.Z. 22,115 Addicts The highest authority ever appointed to investigate alcohol—The British Government’s Advisory Committee—stated: “Alcohol is from first to last A NARCOTIC DRUG.” The Liquor Traffic in New Zealand is a concern peddling this narcotic drug for profit. During the three years 1922-23-24 —there were 22,115 arrests for drunkenness, every one of them was a drug addict, an unfortunate victim to a body and soul destroying drug. The Traffic is making NEW drunkards every day. THE DOPE TRAFFIC The Liquor Traffic does not confine itself to peddling the dope called alcohol. It has a huge system for dosing the public with half-truths, distortions, fakes and figures, and absolute lies about Prohibition in the U.S.A. and elsewhere. HERE ARE SOME SAMPLES Theie seems to be no end to these brazen and cunning falsehoods. Here are some exposed. Be warned, be wise; don’t believe any of them. The following statements have appeared in Liquor Traffic advertisements:— SALVATION ARMY—Reported in “ Cheerio,” September Ist, as making statement adverse to Prohibition. U.S. Salvation Army cables that statement is absolutely false, was never made by present head of Northern Division, and that no Col. Butler (name quoted by “ Cheerio ”) is to be found in the Salvation Army in the U.S.A. ONTARlO—Advertised as having carried Continuance since 1922. It voted in 1924 and gave a majority of 33,915 for retaining: its Prohibition law. NEWFOUNDLAND Advertised as having carried Continuance since 1922 has never Vote Out the Traffic that deals IN DRUGS AND DECEPTION - VOT voted on the subject since 1915, when Prohibition was carried by 24,956 to 5,348. DRUGS—Liquor Traffic advertises, “ America ADMITS that Prohibition has created thousands of drug addicts.” Here is statement from 1924 Official Report of U.S. Public Health ServicerDrug addicts treated by 37% New York State Physicians in 1918 (wet) .. 12,365 Drug addicts treated by 51.6% New York State Physicians in 1923 (dry) . . 775 Reduction . 11,590 Cut This Out and Keep it By You. 2513 A
