It is announced by the* Labour Council that action lias been taken by the shipping companies to cite an official of the Sydney branch of the Seamens Union to appear before the Sydney Police Court, the Commonwealth Arbitration Court at Melbourne, and the High Court of Australia, regarding the shipping strike. It is further stated that, regarding this as a challenge to the trade union movement, the Disputes Committee of the Council refuses to intervene at this stage. A meeting of the transport group of the Council, which sat for several hours to consider the deadlock, was resultless.
