FOREIGN GUNBOATS IN CANTON HARBOUR

There is a flotilla, of foreign gunboats in Canton Harbour, where tense excitement prevails since Sun Yat Sen threatened to seize the Customs funds. The flotilla is apparently preparing for eventualities. Three American destroyers have supplemented the force and some vessels are cleared for action, while s French sailors have been landed at Shameen and stationed in the old , preach post office building. The commanders of the various vessels sent a joint communication to Sun Yat Sen, urging him to move cautjously, owing to possible diplomatic "■ 'complications, but, it is understood that the Chinese leader has not yet , been definitely persuaded to abandon the step. .
