TAURANGA COUNTY COUNCIL AFFAIRS
MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Tauranga County Council was held in the Coronation Hall yesterday. Present: Councillors H. Southey (chairman), J. M. Darragh, 1). Grant, I, Vercoe, W. J. Griffin, A. J. Collins, J, Gilmore, T, Loch head, J. Hume. Cow Straying. Mr Chantrcy Harris, Waikareao, wrote under date April 6, drawing attention to the fact that a cow had keen for the past week or mote straying on the Waikareao roads. It was decided to refer the matter to the ranger. Polling Booth Wanted. Mr L. If. V. Price, lion, secretary of the Kaimai Branch of the Dairy Farmers' Union, wrote advising that at the last meeting of the branch it was decided to ask for a polling booth at the Lower Kaimai school on the occasion of the loan poll on April 22. It was resolved to reply lo the effect that it was too late to provide for a polling booth at Lower Kaimai, but the request would be noted in regard to future polls. Balance Sheet Required. The Public Trustee, Wellington, wrote requesting that he bo supplied annually with a copy of the council's balance sheet and accounts, which, are required for reference purposes. - Already attended to. A To Matai Road. Mr J. Mark, Te Puke, wrote requesting that repairs be effected to his road. The engineer stated'he had requested the surfaceman to attend to small repairs, Quarry Reserve. Mr P. A.'Moore, Waihi Plains, wrote stating he would not be able to lease the quarry reserve recently, applied for, owing to the poor state of hu health. Received. County Contracts. Mr A. Fleming, Maramarua, via wrote asking for particulars in regard to contracts for which the Council is calling tenders. He slated he was associated with a partner who has clone crusher, lorn - , etc, and would like to have a chance to compete for the contracts.- Already replied to by the engineer. , Papamca Beach Road. Mr A. J. Gallagher, Papamca, wrote directing attention to the very bad state of Beach Boad, and stated: “It is carrying a lot of traffic, being the main road to the Mount. It has already punched through into the swamp in several places, and is likely ,to be impassable this coming winter. Should you require it 1 could put a good man and team on, with dray, next month, at a very reasonable rate. Re the main drain which was started last winter: It would be a great help to the road if you could see your way clear to have it finished before the wet weather sets in.” C» Collins said there was a lot of traffic on the road. Cr Gilmore said repairs were nec cssary. The matter was referred to the enaincer.
