The High Commissioner reports: London, July 20 A French official report says : " We maintained the plateau south-west of Soiesons. Our loft advanced three kilometres. In the centre we stormed the plateau north of Brurchamps and beyond forcby. The number of prisoners exceeds 17,000. We also captured 360 cannon."

Sir D Haig reports: "At Meteran we advanced on a front of 4000 yards. The enemy resisted considerably on our extreme left, but elsewhere our objectives weie gained rapidly and without difficulty. We captured 136 prisoners. Southward of Hebuterne our line was advanced on a mile front, causing sharp fighting betweeu outposts."
