FIRE AT WHAKATANE.

Whakatane, July 19

A fire yesterday afternoon gutted the shops of J Clark (watchmaker) &nd Wong Lee and Co, (lauudrymen and fruiterers), located iv the main street block. The Fire Brigade and brick partition walls prevented the spread of the fire through the block, which |included the Post- Oii'ice adjoining.
