The Miners' Federation at So.utliport resolved to demand an increase
in the old age pension to iss a week, and the reduction of the age limit to 60, also the eliniinauion of the military spirit f,-om physical drill iv elementary schools. They asked that soldiers and sailors be paid 6s a day. The Federation approved the replaciug of separate district Conciliation Boards by National Boards for regulating wages in all districts. This change is regarded as the most fateful in the Federation's history. It is pointed out that the Federation's recent policy has consistently followed national lines.
