IMPERIAL GATHERING.

Tribute to Dominions,

Rec Jan 20, 2.15 p.m. London, Jan 19. An immense Imperial gathering took place at the Colonial Institute, where a luncheon was tendered to Sir (J. Reid, late High Cummisioner for the Australian Commonwealth. Lord Milner presided in the absence of Mr Bonar Law (Secretary for the" Colonies) who was attending a international conference. Lord Milner said whatever were tire differences concerning the origin of the war there was unanimous admiration of and gratitude for the magnificent gallantry of their distinguished fellow-heroes from the Dominion?, and he was not surprised at their soldierly qualities. Nothing was more remarkable than the way the statesmen and peoples of the Dominions—despite so much that might have caused them to waver —stood steadily behir.d the Imperial cause.
