Craganour, the favourite, finished first, but an objection was locked for interference in the straight, the stewards upholding the objection, and disqualifying Mr Cholvnondely's colt. Aboyeur. which was awarded the stake, was the biggest outsider in tnc ra:e, starling at 100 to 1, and the taking away of the race from Craganour and the defeat of Louvois and b'hogun \v;n a severe bluw to backer?. Great Sport was placed third.
From an, excellent start Aboyeur (fashed away with tli2 lead, and Craganour mov.-d into secjnd place descending Bush's HiU. Aboyeur was still leading at the Tottenham Corn«\ Oaganour, Shogun. and Day Comet following. Louvoi3 joined issue at the distance, and a tremendous tussle followed. Craganour challenged Abuyeur's lead and won a bumping finish by a head, Louvois a neck behind Aboyeur. FranK Wootton, the Australian, on Shogun. was unlucky. He attempted to get through on the inside twice, but failed. Time, 2.37 3-5. Mr Cunlilfe declined to lodge, a protest, but the stewards took the initiative. They examined P. Reiff, nderof Craganouv, an! Piper, riderof Aboyeur, and then disqualified the winner.
/fins is the first disqualification since 1814, when a horse falsely described as Running Kein, by The Sadler out of Mab. came in "first, but was subsequently proved to ba a Aour-year-old colt called Maccabeus, »y Gladiator, and was disqualified.
