The man Bill, who is believed to have shot Blanchet for betraying Renert, a member of the Bonnot gar.g, was recently arrested and released, owing to lack of evidence. Blanchet was courting- a- young dressmaker who lodged "in Renert's house, and the dressmaker really informed the authorities about Renert
The police believe thnt at a secret conclave at Nancy, the anarchists decreed that Renert should be avenged. Blanchet was Jured to a lonely part of the road, «and. Bill fired at him, but missed. Blanchet fled; and a tramcar conductor, who saw him rum-.ing and signalling wildly, would not stop because he was not at the usual halting place. Bill finally shot Blanchet with a revolver.
Foresters and soldier 3 are surrounding the forest of Hay, where it is believed Bill is in hiding.
