NOTES ON THE GAME.
Haki, the Matakana full-back, is a reliable player, and will go close to rep. honours this season. . 7 The threequarters— Trau, Morehu and Wi tana Murray— all played well, Morehu being tho best of a clever trio. This player is almost certain to securo inclusion in tho Union representative fifteen. Trau proved his worth as a place-kick. • Kuka, at five-eighth, played his usual sound.- game, and can muster up a tremendous amount of pace. Cooney .(captain), at half, gave his
best exhibition of the season and opened up some line passing runs among th« maroon backs. J. Murray and Henry both played a willing ganw, as did all the Matakana forwards, though, it must be admitted' they 4vad- jt cep^ain advantage as regards weight. For City, MatJieson .'playc*! a ster-
ling game at thre6quarters, anil if he had been attontted to properly by his fellow backs he would undoubtedly have i»otchx'd ; a tYy : or**wo. : . t Ws tackling, kicking, and running were a revelation.
C . Howell , at tbivequarter, gave a very good display and made no mistakes. E; • Asher, at five-eighth, had a U** mendous amount of work to get through, but did not make a single error, and came out of the ordeal in a very creditable manner. Edwin played a sound . game at half. . .
J. Jordan (Captain), wing, played a good game and proved more than a match for his weighty opponent, T. Hcnrv. Jordan Is a certainty as winger" for -tho Union representative team on his Saturday's display. B. Macdonnell stood out as the best forward on the ground. His kicking ami line-play werd greatly admired. Pio played a willing game in the 10o»e, and Chjidban was responsible for some clever -foot work. All the forwards played willingly. but somo of them were rather handicapped /in the matter /of weight, as their opponents were all heavy men.
