BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A special meeting was held yesterday at 2 p.m. for the purpose of making a special order to alter byelaw No 1 section 50, and to impose a license fee of £10 on all persons opening rooms for disposal of goods for a less time than six months. Present, His Worship the Mayor, (Rev. C. Jordan), Crs Gray, Aaher, Hulme and Con way. ' The Clerk read tne notice convening the meeting and a copy of the proposed motion. The Mayor proposed the addition be made as given in his notice of motion brought up at last ordinary meeting, and a long discussion ensued as to the correct wording of the addition and the exact signification of the words, rooms, shop, hawker, pedlar &c, and the following was finally agreed on "That any person not resident in the Borough, opening temporary rooms for the retailing of goods for a period of less than six months be considered a pedlar within the meaning of section 452, part II of the municipal Corporation Act 1886, and the license fee for such pedlar be £10 said fee to be paid to the Town Clerk before commencing business." Seconded by Cr Asher and carried unanimously. It was resolved that Monday 4th April at 1.30. p.m. be appointed the day and time for confirming this resolution. A; This concluded the business.
