MR ALLAN MCDONALD AND HIS CONSTITUENTS.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —Your correspondent "B" in writing on the above subjeot in last Saturday's issue just hit the nail of public opinion on tho head. It is simply preposterous that our Parliamentary representative should condescend to reply civilly or courteously to a, working man. It is in fact degrading to tho position in which he has been placed! Possibly he thinks that he can afford to snub us. as-he had not to thank us for assisting in his election, as had ho not received a single vote in Tauranga he would still be our member; (we are earnestly desired to maintain a short silence, and commune with ourselves on tho importance of our elective power); but if that is hiß opinion he will have to alter it, for the Tauranga electors are not to be trifled with. Probably he thought he would gain our applause by imitating a local precedent, by deserting thejparty that put him in, but. such shallow artifices as these will not do. He even feels so secure in his position that he has the audacity to' treat that august body, the Town Board, in an off-hand manner. If it had been after Mr Bromfield's letter appeared, it would not have been so bad, because then we might have thought the curtness of the reply was intentional, so a3 to bring it within the radius of theirmental light, but under the-circumstances; he has no excuse whatever, and we can only put it down that he prefers grovelling with-, the working men to having the shining light of " our own. interests!' beaming on him.—l am. &c, C: Tauranga, Jury 3,.1850!.
