Personal Pars.
A social was tendered Bandsman W7 R. Miller by the 14th (South Otago' Regimental Baud on Friday evening, th guest of the evening having enlisted on attaining his 20th birthday, and leaves for Trentham to-morrow morning. Between 20 and 30 members and friends were present, Lieut. H. G, M'Clymont (conductor) presiding, who, while wishing Bandsman Miller good luck and a sa/ return, greatly regretted the loss of hi e services to the Band, as of late he ha imde rapid progress, and at present euphonium player, Sergt. Sivetson ß Corporal Kennard, and Mr W. Milne, also spoke, all wishing the departing soldier the best of luck. Games, songs, recitations, music, and an excellent supper helped to pass a very pleasant even* ing, " He's a jolly good fellow " and the National Anthem conolnding proceedings about 11 o'clock. Latest hospital progress reports state that Private W. R. Duff (Milton) is still seriously ill, but is improving. Not severe case: Private F. A, Russell (Milburn). A congregational meeting of Toko. Presbyterian Church is to be held next week to consider the question of extending a call to RBV, 0. J, Tooker, of Gerah dine.
Last Thursday evening a social and presentation was held in the Waihola Public Hall to bid farewell to Mr James Muir. who has - been a resident of the Clarendon district for the past six years. Mr Andrews, the chairman, on behalf of the gathering, presented Mr Muir with a gold sovereign case, suitably inscribed. Several speakers referred to the sterling qualities of their esteemed neighbour, and regretted his departure from the district. -
