(LATE THE CHRISTCHUROH MEAT COMPANY, LTD.), LIVERPOOL STREET, DUNEDIN

Is particularly suited to the Soils of the South Island. TJEOAUSE— as has been pointed out ■ by practical men of recognised authority: — 1. The supply of phosphates in the average soil of the South Island is very limited. This Fertiliser is guaranteed to contain 18 per cent, of phosphoric acid in a form readily and completely available. 2. The continuous use of acid manures such as superphosphates or animal manures, while increasing the supply of phosphates, is a heavy drain on the supply of lime, which is the chiefagent in soil for neutralising acids. 3. Where the supply of lime is limited, the use, of such manures will make the 'soil acid in time, rendering it an unsuitable medium for growing many of our best plants, such as Clover. 4. "Rockland'" Basic Phosphate is largely an. alkali manure, containing a considerable portion of lime. It not only helps to liberate the potash and nitrogen in the soil, but tends to counteract acidity and sourness. 5. Unlike Basic Slag, it remains dry and is easy to handle and distribute. 0. In an ordinary season its effect is shown in a very short time. Although the phosphates are supposed to be only in a semi-soluble condition, experience shows that they become quickly soluble again in the soil, thus giving practically immediate results. Full particulars and prices on application.
