Methodist Church Social
The annual congregational social in connection with the Milton Methodist Church was held on Monday, June 4fch. Rev, J, Featherston presided over a large gathering of members and friends. Mr W, H. Hitchon gave an encourag iog report on the progress of the church from a financial point of view, and also reported that in connection with the Sustentation Fund which is being inaugurated, the canvassers were meeting with a responsive receptian. Towards the new church, building fund £l3O had boen raised during the year, bringing the fund up to £533, Rev. Mr Featherston reported an in creased membership, and thanked al* who had co operated with him in bi' year's ministry, especially the officebearers of the church. Four young men, members or adherents, had left for the Fcont during the year. Kov. Raine, Mr Oa« ley, Captain Carmiohael, and His Worship the Mayor congratulated the congregation on the report, and gave wise words of counsel for the future.
The following ladies and gentlemen contributed to the programme; Mrs W, Gregory, Misses Oockerill, 0 ver, and Facey, Messrs Murray, .Mac William,. M'Clymont, and King. Misses Marehall and King played the accompaniments The choir, with Mies Marshall as organist, rendered suitable selections during the evening. Refreshments and the Doxology brought an inspirational meeting to a close,
