, Last Thursday evening at Circle Hill School a social was held in honor of Privates H. and W. M'NeiU, who are down on final Jeave, and also a farewell to Mrs Douglas, who is leaving the disi triot. Mr Cawley presided, and a good programme of songs and reoitations was given by Misses WUodx and Ella Grey, also Mesara Flett and Hodder. Daring the evening the Chairman presented Mrs Douglaa with a rag, and eaoh of the soldiers with a safety razor, set of mili« taay brushes, writing walett, and a New Testament. Both soldiers briefly returned thanks for the presents and the good wishes expressed, Mr Fiett re* turned thanks on behalf of Mrs Douglas. A dance was afterwards held foran hour j or two. j
Capt. and Mrs Carmiohael, who have been in charge of Milton oorps of the Salvation Army for the past few months, are under orders to transfer to Biverton, to succeed Capt, Whitley (formerly of Milton, who has had a breakdown in health). Capt. and Mrs Oarmichael conduct their farewell services on Sunday ; they will be succeeded by Capt, Girling. A pleasant social evening was held in the* Y.M.CA. Booms last night, when about 40 member* attended to honor Private Will. Moore (aooretary), of the 27th R iuforoeinents, who is. down on final leave, The president, Mr Wm, Boy, occupied the chair, and in presenting Private Moore with an Auto-strop Bafety razor, shaving outfit, and a pooket Testament, the speaker referred in terms of bigh praise to Private Moore's labors of self sacrificing devotion to the Assooia tiou during his many years' services as Becretary, Appreciative references were also made by Bev. J, Featherston, Messrs G. M'Laren, Si D. Cordton, and A. BenH nie. The recipient suitably acknowledged the gifts and kindly expressions of good will. Musioal items were contributed at intervals by Messrs W. B. MaoWil' liam and H, G. M'Clymont. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. Hitohon, W, T. Brabyn, and Mel?ille Soott.
