NED KELLY'S ARMOR.
It will come as a surprise to the public to ieani tnat JNed h.eliy's ranious suit of armor—to Winch reference was made in a cable a day or two ago—wixion was generally understood to be hi tiie possession or the State, is owned by Mr Russell Clarke, M.L.C., of Sunbury. Tins fact was ascertained by Mr G .V. Russell, brother of Mr Leslie Kusseil, secretary oi the Victorian Artists' Australia Day Pageant, when it set out to obtain the famous relic for use in a recent historical procession. Having ;resolved th<at he would be a bushranger—for the occasion only—Mr Kusseil took the daring and unusual course of confiding his intention to the police, and requesting a loan of the armor against which the bullets of the law rattled harmlessly in JNed Kelly's final stand at Caen rowan. The police authorities advised Mr Kusseil to apply to the Chief Secretary's Office for permission to use the armor. The application was made, but the officials were at first reluctant to allow so valuable a relic out of their possession. Finally, (however, they (granted Mr Kusseil the required permission.
