TAX ON BACHELORS. The. form in which the American income tax is finally cast represents a signal-victory for the opponents of "race suicide." It has been decided to eliminate from the Bill a provision allowing immunity from taxation at the rate of £IOO for each of two children to eadb family. The provision was denounced by Mr Roosevelt as a direct incentivo to American parents to limit their offspring to two. Under the Bill as finally passed bachelors will pay a tax on incomes above £6OO, and married couples on incomes above £BOO. There will be no exemption for children. It is estimated that 423,000 Americans •will pay income tax.
