TAX ON BACHELORS. The. form in which the American income tax is finally cast represents a signal-victory for the opponents of "race suicide." It has been decided to eliminate from the Bill a provision allowing immunity from taxation at the rate of £IOO for each of two children to eadb family. The provision was denounced by Mr Roosevelt as a direct incentivo to American parents to limit their offspring to two. Under the Bill as finally passed bachelors will pay a tax on incomes above £6OO, and married couples on incomes above £BOO. There will be no exemption for children. It is estimated that 423,000 Americans •will pay income tax. Of these 126,000 will, according to the computations of Congress, pay on incomes from £6OO to £IOOO, 178,000 on £IOOO to £2OOO, 53,000 on £3OOO, 24,500 on £4000,10,500 on £SOOO, 21,000 on £SOOO to £IO,OOO, 6100 on £IO,OOO to £15,000, 2400 on £15,000 to £20,000, 2500 on £2O,CX\O to £50,000, 550 on £50,000 to £60,000\350 on £60,000 to £200,000, end 100.onl.ver £200,000.
