Before Mr E. W. Burton, S.M, Monday, April 27th. DEFENCE ACT. M E Paul applied for oomplete ex emptiun from camp service, on the grounds of uudue hardship. Constable Fox stated he had received an intimation from the Officer Commanding the unit to the effect that he did not wish to oppose tne application. R A Jb'yke gave formal evidence as to inconvenience that would be cause'd by applicant having to attend oamps, as it would render it very difficult to get out the newspaper, through his inability to obtain services of another Simplex operator. He also stated that he liatt given iourteeh days' notice-of his inten-. tion to apply for exemption. The Magistrate stated he recognised this to be a bona fide case oi hardship, and granted exemption under the Act. Defence Department against Wlll Kooercson tor failing to attend parades. No appearance of 'defendant.
