A smoke concert of central stuffs of 11)o Commonwealth Public Service Association last week at Sydney MajorGeneral Head (Commandant of the Australian Forces) expressed the hope that Australia would for years and centuries to come be in tlio position it was now in—a position of reading about war rather than experiencing it. He had within recent years seen war on a largo scale, and knew enough about it-not to want it in this country. If Australia was to command success there must be continuity of noliey. If they had not that the money they spent must to a very largo extent be wasted.
