The monthly meeting of the committee of 1 lie Tokomairiro Farmers'. Club wa<= held in t-.ie County Chambers on Thursday evening, when there were 18 members present. The President (Mr J. Grey) occupied the chair.. The minutes of previous meeting weie read and confirmed. Several- copies ol the twelfth- annual report of the Government division of biology and horticulture were laid on the table. The following accounts were passed for pay-/ ment:— H. ' ' /,'■ Mt Tough said that since their last meting one of their oldest members (MrHWm. Moore) had had a sad bereavement in his family, having lost his eldest son b^ death. He 1 no ved that a letter of condolence be sent to th. sorrowing parents expressive of the sincere sympathy of the members of the club. — The motion was seconded by Mr Wm. Grey, and passed in silence, the members standing. The following were appointed a committee to collect exhibits for Bruce Bay at next l):in,edin Winter Show :-j— President, Vice-j.ievi-dent, Messrs Tough, Hitchon, Russell, N'orrie, Ferguson, and Scott. PRESENTATION OF SILVER CUP. The handsome iilver cup, which was ;.resented to the Club, ih 1901 by Messrs Alex. Frazer. and G. T, Martin for best- "pair bf draught mares, arid had to' be won twice be-. fore it. became the property of the exhibitor was then duly presented to Mr Thos. Low ..ry, who at last show repeated his success of 1901,---and.thus became the proud possessor o( the cup. — The President, ..in- handing over the r. cup, heartily congratulated Mr Lowery 'on hi* • meritorious win, and as keen competition was the life of shows, he hoped that the Club would soon have another cup to compete ior, and that Mr Lowery would be found amoii-jsij the competitors. It was a good sign that he should have gained first honors in 1 901, and again three years later, and that he could breed stock to compete' against all comers.— (Loud applause). Mr Lowery briefly returned thanks, and said it afforded him great' pleasure to become possessor of the handsome cup, and he trusted to be able to secure more honors at future shows. —(Applause). '-.
