Inch Clutha

(Fbom an Occasional Correspondent) Since my last — I do not beg to be excused for any neglect on "my part in not forwarding to you my contributions, being prevented through circumstances of which I had no control — I have had the advice of an M.D. on the experiment of trying to boycott. I have been shelved, the boards would not contain me. lam recovering and am anxious you should hear from me again in returning back to Inch Clutha.

Going through some of the farms, I never saw the district more promising than at present ; the grain crops are all that could be desired, turnips could not be better, grass in abundance, potatoes extra good, cattle and sheep looking well. There ia a great quantity oi turnips in this district this season which will give any amount of wintep feed, I have heard of some farmers who could have sold their last year's wheat at nearly five shillings per bushel, but they have got it on their hands yet. The political elaudu seem to be gatheriug and the next general eleotion will be the greatest contest that ever took place in New Zealand, it beiDg the opinion of a great many that the present Government wil be returned to power stronger than ever. I hear Mr Crawford Anderson intends to oontest the Bruce, seat at the next general election against all oomers. He supports the present Government. When the contest is over (if I can judge from the opinions and the way the electors expres ß themselves) the Government candidate wil receive by far the greatest support in this district. The electors are getting tired, of city representation for a farming district. We neyer see our present member only in and about election times.
