DUNEDIN STOCK REPORT.
Following is the report of business done at Burnside on Wednesday : — Fat Cattle. — To-day there were yarded for requirements at Burnside 156 head, the greater portion of which were ordinary quality, only a few pens being prime. At the commencement of the sales prices advanced by 103 per head on last week's values, but as the sales progressed prices gradually receded, and subsequently rate 3 were ruling about same as last week. Best bullocks brought from £7 15s to £9 12s 6d ; an extra heavy pen of prime, £10 2s 6d ; medium quality, £5 10s to £7 5s ; inferior, £3 2s 6d to £5. Prime cows, £6 15s to £8 ; inferior to medium, £3 to £6 53. Fat Calves. — Ten were penned, bufc prices offered not reaching vendors' expectations, were passed in unsold. Fat Sheep. — An exceptionally large supply was penned to-day, viz,, 4108, and as might be expected, the market was about the quietest experienced for a long time past. Last week's market being also largely supplied, the trade had stocks on hand independent of to-day's supply, and although the lot was cleared oat — excepting several pens of heavy wethers, which brought about au average on last week's prices— the general result throughout the sales was a conaiderable reduction in prices — fully 23 to 2s 6d requiriug to be accepted before sales were effected. It is unnecessary almost to say that the trade will have stocks on haudsufficent for at least to last over next week. The lot penned to-day comprised 3308 crossbreds, and the remainder merinos. The quality of the latter was good to medium, the few pens of crossbred wethers were good to prima, and the balance and greater portion crossbred ewes of medium weights. Prime crosabred wethers brought fromlo3 to lis 3 i ; medium 6s to 8s 9d ; crossbred ewes, prime, 7s 9i to 9s ) iuferior to medium, 3s to 7s 6 1 (au extra heavy pen, lis 3d) ; merino wethers, 33 6J to ss. Fat Lambs. — The supply consisted of 445 of fair to good quality. The prices were for the beat from 5s to 7s ; others, 33 9 J to 4s 6J. Pigs. — To-day 319 were yarded, consisting principally of porkers and bacon pigs. Taere was a good demand for such. Prices were a shade better than obtained last week, while suckers and stores wero difficult to quit. Prices were : Heavy weight baconors, 503 to 755 ; ordinary, 28s to 47s ; porkers, 15s to 25s ; other sorts, Is 61 to 7s. Store Cattle. — The demand is limited, only a few lots changing hands. Store Sheep. — Fow lots are offering of young crossbred wethers for fattening, the only description there is any enquiry for at present.
