TUAKITOTO SCHOOL EXAMINATION.
The annual examination of this school, under the charge of Mr Guthrie, took place on Wednesday, the 31 at. The attendance was not so large as usual, on account of hairvest operations having begun. There were 21 scholars present, who passed a thorough and satisfactory; examination by Mr Neill, Southbridge. The Correctness and aptitude 'o'f'fhe pupils in answering -the various questions evoked the applause of the adult mem bers present. The members of Committee present were Messrs Currie, Dunlop. and Martin. A few of 'those interested in the cause also put in an appearance, which is, at least, a great encouragement to the teacher. Mr Neill briefly addressed those present, and complimented them on the success of their school for the short ten months it had Ibeen in existence. He hoped to see a hearty co-operation between the home teachers— the parents— and the school teacher— the master — without which the good which might accrue would not. He extolled the manner in which Mr Gnthiie had imparted the rudimentary part of their education to them, and thought that the district ought to be justly proud of such a teacher. Mr Allan Marshall proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Neill for the part he had taken in the day's work, which was heartily acquiesced in.
