The races were wound up by several improviptii matches upon Saturday The first event being a foot race for a small Rtake — 120 yards, between Maidment and Mullens, the latter to receive 11 yards start. Maidment won easily. 2nd Race.— D. O'Brien and Maidment. 120 yards, for L 5. "Won by Maidment easily. 3rd Race. — H. Hudson and Maidment. 100 yards for a small stake. Won by Maidment easily. Horse Race. — Blue Spur Handicap. — L2O. Entrance, L 2 2s, to be added to the prize. One and a half miles. Walter's Slander, 9st. lOlbs (French) ... 1 Coombe's Catapult, 6st 51bs (T. Cotton) 2 Pritchard's Patch, 7st. ... (Malone) 3 Walter's Yatterina. Sst 101 bs (Tanner) 4 Slander and Catapult made a good race of it, but the mare was too much for the horse at the weight. The other two were not persevered with. Mate]] for LS. — Fairy and Chance. Once round the course. Won easily by Chance. Hack Race. — Onenile heats. Entrance, LI Is. Money to go to the winner. 8 entries Ist heat — Jacka Maria ... ... 1 2nd do.— Te Kooti 1 3rd do. — Te Kooti ... ... ... 1 Sultana, Bounce, Rufus and three others competed. A number of pigeon matches took place afterwards, but the pigeons in most cases got too good a start ever to be caught- again.
