CLUTHA PRESBYTERY.

The Presbytery 6f Cliitha iriet at Balcltttha 'On Tuesday, the 2nd ult., present Rev. J. Chishohn, moderator; Re'vds. Bannerman. Kirkland, Allan, Waters, Telford, and ■Arnolit, and Mr Smith, elder. The Presbytery resumed 'consideration of 'the resignation by Mr Arno'tt, of Balcliitha -charge. MessYs Ritchie alid M'Neil appeared on behaK of the congregation aiid presented •a resolution coraejto acquiescing in the resignation. It was agreed that the further consideration of the matter should be postponed till after the meeting of Synod, 'in order that Mr Araott might be able to take his seat in 'the Synod, as a member of Presbytery. The Committee appointed to examine Mr John Stevens, with a view to his entering upon his theological course as a student in connection with the church reported that they were well satisfied with .Mr Stevens' knowledge of the various subjects on which he had been examined. The Presbytery agreed to'Tede'ivefom sfs a 'theological student, and appointed Messrs Kirkland, Cliisholm, and YVatei* to superintend his further studies. Several 6f "the 'ministers reported oh'evangelistic meetings that had been held during the year. The Presbytery resolved to continue tht&e and 'expressed aft earnest desirfc to see them better attended, and crowned! with more abundant .blessings. The Presbytery adjourned to rtieet on the : third Wednesday Of March., at 11 o'clock. ;
