A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION

The promoters of the gartfen fete in aid of the Melanesian and Maori Missions are to be congratulated on the success which attended their efforts this afternoon. The weather was pleasant, which, with the worthiness of the object, attracted a large gathering to the Domain. The manoeuvring; of the, ladies attired in their summer dresses and tluj, beautifully decorated bicycles and perambulators presented a picturesque scene. The stalls were, tastefully arranged, and the attendants recorded excellent business. A number of competitions Mere organised, which occasioned much morinierit.
