A westerly gale blow with ihiunrieaiwj i'oii'co «!ll through. tho_ night, uprooting 'huge trees, levelling fejjpes, and completely -wrecking gardens iu exposed posit ions. The roof of tho observatory at tho Catholic Mission was carried away. The storm now shows signs of abating.
Tho -storm was pretty busy in- Dannevirko yesterday afternoon. If it did not -uproot trees or carry away roofs, it blew away Urate galore .and made citizens stagger. It subsided early this mor.ning iand tlie day tiiTiio:l: out bright, though the wind Reeaiied reluctant to leave.
