COOKS AND WAITERS.

[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, to-day. A deputation from the Cooks' and Waiters' Conference waited on the Minister of Labor with a request for assistance in- ameliorating the lot of* the workers . in their calling. The speakers strongly condemned '■ the canditions under which cooks and waiters "had to work. '..-■'' The Minister said the hours men- ■ tioned were, to say the least, - unreasonable. He would lessen them if he could do so. As to the condition of workers, that was of supreme importance. He had seen in the back yards of Wellington conditions simply revolting. The matters would receive the consideration of Cabinet.
