THE MARKETS.. - [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] - Jy""" NAPIER, to-day.; Dalgety and Co., London, cabled their Napier braaicli as follows : — The demand for New Zealand beef is good, with a firmer market; fores 2§ d per pound, hinds 4. New Zealand lamb: Prices are weak. There is a fair demand for Canterbury; heavy 3^-d, light 'JSjd, North Island; : '3.d,' light 4d. The demand for New Zealand mutton has' improved owing to the reduced prices asked. Canterbury, heavy 2^d; light 2-Jd ; North , Island, heavy 2d, light 2_d.. Since, last cable, 1 New Zealand mutton and ewes have been sold at ljd to l|d per pound. Leather is very firm. .Basils aredull, hides strong.
