Concert at Ormondville

The concert held iv the Ormondville Town Hall on Friday evoning to raise funds for improving the local Recreation Ground was an unqualified sucoess. The hall, which had been decorated with flags, looked extremely pretty. Mr R R. Groom, J.P., presided, and the entertainment was opened by a well- executed pianoforte solo by Miss Groom. Songs were given by Mrs Halse-Francis, accompanied on the flute by Dr HalseFrancis, and Mrs Dobbs und Messrs J.
B. Robertson, A. Webb, and Forbes, all of which were heartily reoeived. Mr Robertson, who made his first appearance before an Orrpondville audience, meeting with vociferous encores. Dr Halse-Francis and Mr W. H. Johnston gave recitations in their usual excellent style, and were the recipients of loud applause, while the dancing of a Highland fling by Mr D. MoFarlane brought down the
bouse, a sword dance being given in response to an imperative, encore, Mr Forbts introduced hip graphaphone, which is without doubt the best we have heard, and gave universal pleasure, Miss Moroney, bf Waipa wu, played the accompaniments and the music for the ball, whioh was Afield afterwards, and gave every satisfaction, Between 30 and 40 oouples attended the ball, dancing being kept Up till the small hourn. islr Mitchell efficiently' undertook the, duties of M.C, Last, but. notJeast, a record supper had been provided and was dispensed by the ladies, which was pronounced "Al," With regard to this item much praise is due to Mesdauoes Tigers aud Beale, who have been indefatigable ie procuring subsoriptions to supply the eatables, eto It is hoped that something like £20 has beau railed by the undertaking.
