VANDALS BLAMED

DESTRUCTION OF LANDMARK P.A. WELLINGTON, Sunday. A 100-year-old landmark on the Western Hutt Road, Petone, Percy Brothers' flour mill, was destroyed by fire on Saturday evening. The Petone brigade was called, but could not save the building. The Mayor of Petone, Mr. H. Green, said last night that the fire was an instance of pure vandalism. The ranger was there at 6 p.m. and found everything in order, and that was not long before the fire broke out. The ranger said there had been two past attempts to burn the mill.
