AGES OF POLITICIANS
What peculiar situations can arise when we allow our political prejudices, and perhaps malice, a little latitude in the heat of battle. Worshippers of Churchill use both pen and pencil to show up the new Secretary of State for the Dominions as a man requiring a bathchair on account of his 76 years, but the same people were most enthusiastic to see Mr. Churchill given another five years to run Britain, and apparently a lot of tottering European thrones as well, in spite of his 70 years. At that age Mr. Churchill can tear all over the globe by air, but. it is suggested Lord Addison will need a bathchair for transport. Perhaps Bernard Shaw is getting to the stage, at nearly 90, where he will need wheeling about physically, but, judging by his latest book, he needs no bathchair mentally. If we want to see samples of politicians needing a mental bathchair, why go all the way to England? A. P. YOUNG.
